Gerhard Manske Feinmechanik Glasfaseroptik was established in Wetzlar in 1986. The main focus of the company is the development, manufacture and marketing of light guide systems for the following markets:
• medical endoscopy
• dental technology
• high-vacuum technology
• lighting technology
Manske has been a successful OEM supplier of these technologies on the world market for many years. With many years of experience in these fields, qualified technical employees and sophisticated production processes, Manske can manufacture standard and also custom-designed components to the highest quality.
Medical Technology
The company manufactures light guides for medical applications, such as arthroscopy and endoscopy, for instrument lighting and transmission of imaging signals. One newly developed product is a lighted puncture needle. The puncture needle is fitted with a special light guide system and is used in medicine for punction of body cavities. Manske has a patent for this development.
Lighting Technology
Standard light sources and instruments on the market have different connections and are not compatible with one another. However, the light guide range from Manske is based on two standard cables for short and long device connections. The light guide range also includes a wide range of adapters for connection to different devices with no loss during transmission. Glass fibre bundles, glass fibre rods and light guide rods with different opening angles are used. The light guides are supplied as standard in one or two strands in the longs of 1800 mm, 2300 mm and 3000 mm. Special lengths up to 5 m and additional multistrand types are also available.
All light guide cables can be sterilised in autoclaves at 135°C. The transmission media are specially designed to resist mechanical damage. Special cold-light sources in various outputs and designs have been developed for lighting applications for medicine and microscopy. Some items from our comprehensive product range:
