The glass fibre (HIS = High Intensity Standard) is high-grade glass manufactured from special glass melts and has very good transmission properties. A single fibre diameter is used in the light guide bundle in which the light transmission glass has an optimum ratio to the interpolar gap (space between fibres). This forms the base for the greatest possible light transmission in the light guide.
Extremely strong tube. It is manufactured in our factory and not purchased from an outside supplier as a finished product (ATS = Advanced Tube System). This tubing system provides optimum tensile strength. We have also been manufacturing the tube with the internal kink protection since 1986. The clean process prevents the formation of dirt deposits. The light guide cable is also absolutely moisture-proof, which is important for autoclaving.
All of our light guide cables are characterised by their compact design and low weight with high resistance to mechanical influences.
Our standard medical cables are designed to resist a temperature of approx. 300°C at the light entry.
We do not compress and melt the fibres at the light entry, because with these light guide cables this would only give them an advantage with high-temperature light sources. However, this advantage is restricted to the fact that the adhesive does not burn at the light entry, but the decisive disadvantage is even more marked. This is because xenon lamps have a cold spot in the focus. The cold spot is a shadow spot that is caused by the two electrodes of the lamp. It is right in the centre of the focus. If the active diameter of light guide cable is reduced at the light entry by pressing the fibres, less light is coupled in them. The best light yield is achieved if the active diameter remains constant. The fibre bundle also retracts in the metal adapter after a period of use because there is no fixed adhesive connection between the glass fibre bundle and the metal sleeve and there is an additional transmission loss.
Our high-temperature light guide cables are designed to counteract the burning of the light entry (e.g. by using xenon cold-light projectors). The light guide cables are glued at the light entry with an extremely heat-resistant adhesive (500°C).
The variable adapter system gives 100% compatibility with standard products. All special adapters are also available.
Manske light guide cables are available in the standard lengths of 1800 mm, 2300 mm, 3000 mm and all special lengths. Angled light inputs and outputs and also Y-connectors are also available.
The light guide cables are available in various colours (grey standard, blue, red, yellow, moss-green, copper-brown).
The cables conform to all quality specifications. This is confirmed by the CE mark and also by 100% quality assurance.
