have been manufactuated since 1986. They are known for their high quality standards and are used in just about every field of the medical sciences in Germany and many other countries.
Because of the multidude of different light sources that have become available, manufacturers of these light sources, as well as the medical profession, have called for a glass fibre light transmission cable that can be used universally. For a light transmission cable to be universally useable, it must be readily adaptable to the light source as well as to the instrument for which the light is a necessary tool.
This in spite of great variety of the light sources now available and the many instruments that have been produced by many different manufacturers and that are intended for usage with optical glass fibre cables. At the same time, it must be ascertained that the necessary adapters cause as little loss of light as possible.
The mechanism by which the cable is to be connected to the light source is different from one make of source to the other. For this reason, if the loss of the light, caused by the connection system between the cable and the light source and/or the instrument, is to be eliminated or minimised, it is simply not possible to produce a single, standardised optical glass fibre cable that suited to be used with all commercially available light sources and all possible instruments.
For that reason, MANSKE Glass Fibre Otpics has developed a full range of optical glass fibrecables, based on two standard types:
Upon customer specifications, all cables can be supplied in lengths of up to 5000 mm. The light conducting elements in all MANSKE Glass fibre cables are Glass/Glass fibres of the highest possible optical quality. The mechanical protection of the fibres is achieved by using an inner metal spiral, a braided tubing, and a thick outer sheath made out of the high quality, tear-proof silicone. This cable construction guarantees the necessary strength, as well as the highest possible flexibility.
1. Basic Type Cable 2 (GT02): This cable is intended for use with 300 Watt Xenon light sources that have short side connectors, such as WOLF, ACM/BRITISH STANDARD and HSW.
2. Basic Type Cabel 10 (GT10): This cable has been developed for use with all light sources that have a long side connector, such as FUJINON, HEINE, OLYMPUS, PENTAX, SCHOTT, STORZ, WINTER & IBE, and the photo and TV light sources of WOLF.
The bifurcated basic types 11, 12 and 22 have identical screw connections. These cables allow for the use of two light sources with a single instrument, or allow for the use of a single light source for the illumination of two instruments. All single-strand light cables are supplied in standard lengths of 1800 mm, respectively 2300 mm. For the bifurcated cables the only standard length is 1800 mm.
